Below, you will find the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions.

Where are you located?

We do not operate out of a retail storefront. For your convenience, we come to you and work in your home, with your lighting and surroundings. We work in the greater surrounding Anne Arundel County area, and happily travel beyond to neighboring counties as well.

Do I have to take off work in order to work with an Interior Decorator?

Not necessarily. It is best to work together during daylight hours since it is best to view color in natural light. We do have some limited weekend morning appointments as well.

How does KD Designs – Decorating Den Interiors work? 

We work like a full service design studio that comes to you. We meet in your home to get a true feel for your lifestyle, needs and the space we will be creating. Rooms and colors look differently depending on the lighting, so it is important to understand the environment of the space.

How can you offer free design services?

Since we work more like a store and offer products at a fair, designer retail price, this allows us to include our services and unlimited design time in the price of our products.

What happens on my first appointment?

Our first appointment is our chance to get to know each other. We will talk about your project, list everything you’d like to accomplish and establish a budget for the project.

How do I determine a budget for my project?

Often times, our clients have no idea what the budget should be for their project size. After we create a list of what is to be included in the project, a budget can be suggested for you based on the scope of the project.

Is there a minimum or maximum project size? 

No project is too big or too small! We have done projects as small as a paint consultation and as large whole house projects and new construction.

Will you work with existing pieces/furnishings that are in the room?

Yes! We prefer to work with some existing pieces and furnishings. Sometimes clients find it harder to start from scratch. We are here to help if you can’t decide as well. We can also design an entire room and phase it in over time if preferred, working within your budget the entire time.

Do you shop with me in other stores?

We don’t shop in stores with clients. Because our supplier network is so great and our product offerings are so diverse, it makes it very easy to have just about everything needed to complete most projects.

What’s the time frame to get everything in? 

Depending on the project, items could take two to twelve weeks. Simple items like wallpaper and most accessories arrive quickly. Some upholstered furniture takes many weeks to be custom crafted.

Is it returnable? 

Most custom products are not returnable.

Can I get a plan and shop retail?

This process does not work within the structure of our company since we do not charge for our design time.
